About the Agency

Does the agency have procedures in place to:

Protect my relative from accidents, neglect or self-harm?

Yes, Bespoke Care are committed to the safeguarding of individuals. We have our own Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults policy in place. Procedures are in place to report concerns, incidents or ‘Raising an alarm’ on any safeguarding concerns. As we are a government registered care provider we are required to abide by the Isle of Man’s Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care and the Regulation of Care Act 2013. We are subject to unannounced inspections from the Department of Health and Social Care Registrations and Inspections unit.

cover the way staff handle my relative’s money if the carer shops or pays bills?

If a carer is required to carry out some shopping on behalf of an individual, this will be recorded on a specific cash exchange form and will be signed by both the carer and the individual. The date, time, amount and reason for the exchange will be recorded. Receipts for shopping will be returned with the purchased goods.

Do you have a standard contract for work with private clients?

Yes. We are required to have a Service User Agreement which sets out terms and

conditions of our service. This outlines our responsibilities and what you can expect of our service.

What are your quality assurance policies and procedures?

We are registered as a care provider with the Isle of Man Government and are therefore subject to yearly inspection. Legally, we are therefore required to uphold standards of high quality. Managers carry out spot checks on members of staff to ensure that quality of care is being maintained. Anonymous satisfaction surveys are given to Service Users and members of staff to identify any areas for improvement, these are anonymous to ensure that people feel comfortable being honest about any concerns they may have. We hope you will never feel the need to complain, but should you feel you do, we have a structured complaints procedure in place. A full copy of this can be found in the Service User’s Guide.

About the Carer

Do you interview your recruits and take up at least two written references before offering them work as a carer?

Successful candidates then must complete a comprehensive induction programme prior to employment. We acquire two references for each member of staff before they commence employment.

Potential employees are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check (formally CRB Check) before beginning work with us.

Will I or my relative have a regular carer?

Bespoke Care are a small family run company and you will see the same faces regularly. A carer that best suits the needs of the individual will be allocated as the main carer.

What qualifications and experience do carers have?

All carers are required to have experience in care before beginning work with us.

Currently over 75% of our staff are qualified with a minimum of Level 3 QCF in Health and Social Care, the remaining members of staff are working towards this qualification.

Will carers keep written records of the care that has been given?

A tailored care plan will be created and kept in the home of the individual. This will also include a daily report sheet which is updated on each visit and will record which carer has attended and what actions they have taken.
